Compliance in a Changing Landscape

Jeff Shoskins, Attorney, Frost, Brown, & Todd
Wilma Javey, EEOC Director, Cincinnati Area Office

Compensation discrimination continues to be a problem in the American workplace. In the year since the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act took effect, some 4,800 charges were filed with the EEOC alleging wage discrimination. Approximately 1,900 of these were filed by women alleging sex discrimination in compensation, just as Ms. Ledbetter had done when she first filed her charge of discrimination in July 1998.

Please join us for the unique opportunity to be ahead of the curve with compliance to the changing legislation regarding compensation. Jeff Shoskins and Wilma Javey will discuss the impact of the recent and pending pay legislation. We will gain an understanding of the current administration’s agenda as well as the expectations and best practices for compliance.

GCHRA MONTHLY MEETING

Topic: The Carrot Principle: How the Best Managers Use Recognition to Engage Their People, Retain Talent, and Accelerate Performance.

International speaker and trainer, Andrea Gappmayer shows how the transformative power of purpose-based recognition produces astonishing increases in operating results—whether measured by return on equity, return on assets, or operating margin. Andrea teaches how great managers lead with carrots, not sticks, and in doing so achieve higher productivity, engagement, retention, and customer satisfaction. And the best part? It doesn’t cost a lot of money; so even if your budget has been slashed, recognition is very doable and probably more important than ever. Andrea illustrates how the relationship between recognition and improved business results is highly predictable and proven to work.
